![]() ![]() Inside a small to medium glass vase Use beach sand, shells, small pieces of driftwood, the small discarded shell of a crab, etc., for a SEA SCENE. Idea and images by Shannon Stewart formerly of Stetson School in Phoenix! To see photographs of Pulp Making and another idea -visit Play ough Category at the bottom of the page! Paint as desired and add string/yarn/cord/ribbon for necklaces (or ornaments). Put PULP into ‘OCEAN THEMED’ cookie cutters as molds. (Adjust paper and water according to the amount you need.) Strain the mixture so that it is mushy, but still very wet. Put a cup of shredded newspaper into a blender. ( Paper Pulp can be an alternative to clay!) NOTE: If you will be hanging the fish and jellyfish–use a hole punch and then thread yarn or string through the hole in the paper plate to hang. (This sample used small-sized plates for the jellyfish) Paint the paper halves. Although it doesn’t show in the image-the two fish pictured have glitter glue applied.Ĭut a paper plate in half. Sequins or other embellishments can be applied as desired. Glue or draw on an eye…and decorate as desired. Glue the cut shape to the other side of the plate–this is the tail. The coated plates will take much longer to dry.Ĭut a ‘V-shaped” wedge from one side of the plate. I painted (the plates in the image are painted) use the less expensive plates without the coated surface. TIP: If you have trouble getting the entire label off – you may want to place a label over the ‘old laaber’ and write the “children’s’ names” and “Ocean in a Bottle”.Įither use colored paper plates or paint them. Turn the bottle on its side to create a wave in this ocean habitat! From Kid’s domain website.Use a layer of hot glue around the outside edge of the cap for added protection from leakage.Make sure that cap and rim are dry- and then apply white glue around the rim and seal cap.Add glitter and sea creatures/shells and then fill the bottle the rest of the way with vegetable oil using a funnel. ![]()
